Functional Testing

What is Functional Testing?

With changes in lifestyle and the increase in leisure activities, clothing has evolved beyond its basic purpose of wearability to meet various functional demands such as comfort, temperature retention, and convenience. To address these needs, we provide comprehensive functional testing and evaluation services, from material development to final product assessment.

Test Items

Comfort

Moisture permeability/moisture resistance Test to measure the function of transferring sweat in the form of vapor from the inside of the clothing to the outside.
Moisture absorption and quick drying (drying speed/absorption speed) Test to evaluate the functionality of fabrics in quickly absorbing sweat and drying quickly, measuring absorption speed and drying speed, and assessing the moisture management property (MMT) of the fabric.
Surface wetting resistance (water repellency) Test to measure the performance of water penetration from the surface of the product to the inside of the yarn.
Domestic water (material) Test to measure the function of preventing water from penetrating into the product from external contact.
Inland water (rain tower) Test to evaluate the waterproof performance of finished products under artificial rain conditions simulating real rain, assessing not only the fabric but also any potential leaks from additional materials and seams (EN 14360).
Frictional charge/Half-life Test to measure the occurrence of static electricity and the time it takes for static electricity to dissipate.

Temperature maintenance

Cool contact sensation Test to measure the sensation of coldness, known as contact cooling, that is immediately felt when the fabric touches the skin.
Hygroscopic heat generation and moisture absorption performance Test to measure the self-heating property of the fabric when exposed to moisture from the surrounding air, especially when humidity increases compared to a dry state.
Pyrogenicity to light exposure Test to measure the degree of heat generation in fabric after exposure to light irradiation.
Insulation
Air permeability Test to measure the amount of air passing through the fabric's surface to the back.
Thermal Mannequin (Finished Product Evaluation) Test to measure the thermal insulation and evaporation resistance of finished clothing products when worn on a human mannequin.

Other functions

UV protection performance (blocking rate/blocking index) Test to measure the ultraviolet (UV) blocking rate and blocking index of the material in the UV-R, A, B wavelength range.
Appearance smoothness Visual assessment of the degree of wrinkles (creases) that occur after washing.

What is an Antibacterial/Deodorizing Testing?

Products such as bedding, which are used for extended periods and are difficult to wash, or innerwear, where hygiene management is critical, can easily promote microbial growth due to sweat and environmental factors. To address these issues, post-treatment processes are applied, including antimicrobial treatments and mold resistance, while also evaluating deodorizing (odor-neutralizing) performance to reduce unpleasant odors like sweat.

We provide a variety of hygiene-related testing and analysis services, including assessments of antimicrobial, deodorizing, and mite-repellent properties, to effectively manage product quality and hygiene standards.

Test Items

Antibacterial Test to evaluate whether the material has antimicrobial functionality to inhibit the growth of microorganisms.
Mold test (antimicrobial) Test to evaluate whether the material has antifungal functionality to inhibit mold growth.
Tick repellent Test to evaluate whether the material has functionality to repel mites.
Deodorization performance evaluation Test to evaluate the deodorizing performance of deodorized products such as fabrics/materials and deodorants.
