General Quality Testing
What is General Quality Testing?
General Quality Testing provides reliable evaluation of potential performance issues in textiles and apparel during real-world use, ensuring effective quality control. Key tests include fiber composition, colorfastness, and mechanical performance. We also assess the accuracy and suitability of care labels, such as recommended washing instructions.
Test Items
Fiber Composition Analysis and Material Identification
| Fiber composition/Fiber identification | Determines the types and proportions of fibers, including detailed classifications (e.g., rayon, flax, wool). Specific wool identification: sheep, angora, rabbit, alpaca, llama, mohair, cashmere, camel. |
|---|---|
| Leather/Fur Identification | Identifies types of leather and fur, including both natural and artificial materials. Natural leather: camel, rabbit, water buffalo, snake, lizard, crocodile (by species), eel, deer, ostrich, raccoon, fox, muskrat, horse, chinchilla, weasel, kangaroo, dog, cat. Fur identification: camel, yak, cow, pig, goat, water buffalo, deer, ostrich, raccoon, mink, fox, beaver, marten, coyote, nutria, muskrat, horse, chinchilla, weasel, squirrel, kangaroo, mongoose, elk, lynx, dog, cat. |
| Average diameter of wool fiber | Measures the average diameter of wool fibers. |
Down and Feather Evaluation
| Composition | Evaluates the content of down, feathers, and other filling materials. |
|---|---|
| Bulkiness | Determines the bulkiness of down filling materials. |
| Species identification | Identifies the proportion of duck down, goose down, and other components in filling materials. |
| Net Fill Weight | Measures the mass of filling materials used in down products (e.g., jackets, blankets). |
| Quality of filling materials | Evaluates filling quality, including oxygen index, turbidity, moisture, black point content, oil content, and odor. |
| Fill Power | Measures the loft and insulation properties of down products. |
Colorfastness Evaluation
| Washing | Assesses color change and staining after washing with standard detergent. |
|---|---|
| Dry cleaning | Assesses color change and staining after dry cleaning with solvent. |
| Rubbing | Assesses staining caused by rubbing. |
| Light and perspiration | Assesses color change caused by artificial perspiration and light exposure. |
| Light | Assesses color change due to artificial light. |
| Perspiration | Assesses color change and staining caused by perspiration. |
| Water | Assesses color change and staining caused by water. |
Mechanical Performance Evaluation
| Dimensional stability to washing | Measures dimensional change after washing. |
|---|---|
| Dimensional stability to dry cleaning | Measures dimensional change after dry cleaning. |
| Dimensional stability to ironing | Measures dimensional change after ironing. |
| Fabric density/weight |
Density: Number of yarns per unit length. Weight: Mass per unit area. |
| Tensile strength and elongation |
Tensile strength: Resistance to breakage under maximum load. Tensile elongation: Elongation ratio at break. |
| Tear strength | Measures the force required to tear a material in the direction of applied force. |
| Bursting strength | Evaluates resistance to vertical pressure until rupture. |
| Peel strength/Bond strength |
Peel strength: Resistance to separation of bonded fabric layers. Bond strength: Resistance to delamination of coated/laminated fabrics. |
| Abrasion | Evaluates resistance to repeated friction. |
| Pilling | Assesses fuzzing or pilling caused by friction. |
| Snagging | Evaluates fiber protrusion or snagging caused by external entanglement. |
Labeling (Care Label) Verification and Recommendation Test
| Recommendation | Evaluates recommended care instructions (washing, dry cleaning, ironing, etc.). |
|---|---|
| Verification | Verifies that the care instructions provided by the client are suitable for labeling. |
